Creating a seamlessly inclusive area that allowsthe guest to unfold and interact with the space thisopen concept service centre serves to make the shopping experience better for all.
Taking into account Cadillac Fairview’s “Green At Work” program, as well as our studio sustainability design principles, all materials have been chosen to reflect this.From solid wood bamboo, to quartz stone surface, to rubber tile, all materials have been considered for their low environmental impact and sustainability as well as for commercial durability.
Wheelchair accessibility & barrier free design has been considered and respected throughout the whole space. Wood posts help to understand the layout of the space. As the wood posts fan-out the patron begins to become part of the space and is embraced by the canopies above that help relieve from any bright light/heat. For the visually impaired, each vertical post indicates they are approaching a serviceable item/area and helps them find their way through the space.
In a rapidly growing world full of hard surfaces and technology, this service centre provides a balance of nature with technology. Soft with hard. The use of wood, specifically bamboo, has been included to appeal to the senses and our basic human attachment to natural materials. Children, women and the elderly will often gravitate towards softer more natural materials, which in turn creates a more welcoming and inviting space to this critical segment of the market
